PLAYDAY WEEK
ALL THREE  SOUTH ISLAND TRACKS

We have booked all 3 South Island Race Tracks for 2009.

THE DATES & TRACKS

Teretonga  (Invercargill)   Sunday 5 April 09
Levels         (Timaru)         Wednesday 8 April 09
Ruapuna    (CHCH)          Saturday 11 April 09 (Easter Saturday)

COST $350.00 ( for all 3 tracks)

There are only 15 places left for this event so if you are thinking about entering we need to hear from you by the end of January.

On 1st Feb we will open up entries to Ruapuna & Teretonga as on those two tracks we can take about 12 extra cars over the maximum allowed for the full event. If all the full event places are not taken there may be a few places available at Levels. Prices will be $100 for Ruapuna, $101 Teretonga & $150 for Levels.

Entries will be taken on a first paid, first in basis. (We reserve the right to decline any entries)

GETTING THERE

Railways have offered us a discount for the Ferry Crossing & we will be driving down.

Last year 4 cars drove to CH CH for a Ruapuna Track Day, we all said we had as much fun on the drive down & back as we did at the Track so this event is really much more than just 3 Race Tracks.

Gary is on the 8.25am Ferry on 1/4/09 & travelling via Nelson & the West Coast, including the Pancake Rocks, Franz Joseph & Fox Glaciers, Haast Pass, Milford Sound, Wanaka & Queenstown en route to Invercargill.

Tony is on the 10.35am Ferry on 1/4/09 going through to CH CH for 1 night then on to Queenstown for a couple of days & meeting up with Gary & any followers on the way to Invercargill on Sat 4 April

Form Invercargill Tony is going to Milford Sound on the way to Timaru & Gary is taking the inland Route past Lakes Pukaki & Tekapo etc.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Levels Racetrack at Timaru started life “out in the country” but now has a number of neighbours. As a result the track can only be hired 75 days per year & they have a few rules they must abide by, including running all events under Motorsport NZ rules. Those rules flow on to us & must be respected. As a result the following must be complied with & it really isn’t difficult.

  1. Noise levels must not exceed 95.0dBA (That’s fairly loud)
  2. Helmets must meet Motorsport NZ Current standards. These can be found in the Motorsport manual or if you are entering & unsure if your helmet is OK let us know the numbers on it, usually located inside the lining or on the neck strap.
  3. Overalls must be CLEAN & Fire Retardant or Self Extinguishing. 100% Cotton is deemed self extinguishing. (Poly Cotton blends do not comply) Enclosed footwear must be worn.
  4. A Fire Extinguisher, minimum 1kg Powder or 1 ltr Foam securely mounted in the vehicle with a metal bracket. (Super Cheap Autos have these for around $30.00)
  5. Oil catch can, this is mainly for modified cars as most standard vehicles vent the crank case back into the air intake system, any vehicle venting the crank case to the atmosphere must be fitted with an oil catch can.
  6. Secured Battery, factory metal brackets are fine unless your car has a modification that requires something more.

Scrutineering at Levels will be done by Levels scrutineers as per their request; this will not be hard but a general safety check. As your car will either be up to race or WOF standard there should be no problem.

This promises to be a great week so book soon to ensure your place!
